Who are we?
The North Sydney Innovation Network (NSIN) is a not-for-profit innovation and technology group. We aim to support and boost the contribution of innovation-related businesses, particularly new start-ups and fast-growth businesses, within the northern Sydney economy and its broader community. We do this through our three key intentions: NETWORK, EDUCATE, ADVOCATE and our strategic imperatives are guided by our 7 Policy Priorities.

Network
Our networking is focused on the promotion of northern Sydney as a hub for start-ups and innovation-driven businesses. By fostering connections and serendipitous collisions, we hope to provide and promote opportunities to share ideas and increase knowledge among stakeholders in the northern Sydney innovation ecosystem. To this end, we run regular free events through our Meetup networking group.
Regular events include:
- A quarterly EdTech meetup with ACU
- A quarterly pitch night with Griffith Hack (technology Intellectual Property lawyers)
- Co-hosting meetings run by others, helping with the marketing or tech
- General Meetups (still with a speaker, but covering varied topics)

Educate
The NSIN provides thought leadership, support and guidance to local governments, entrepreneurs and start-ups. A key focus is the promotion STE(A)M subjects among students at all levels of education. We also seek to provide thought leadership and keep our members up to date with the key innovation and technology initiatives that will drive economic and social prosperity in the future.
We are guided by our strategic imperatives that have identified as the key innovation variables to consider in the creation of the Smart cities of the future. You can read our 7 Policy Priorities here.
We maintain and continue to grow an online library of innovation and technology related reports. These are easily accessible via our Dropbox library.
We also maintain and continue to grow a physical library of technology and innovation books that can be borrowed by our members.
Want to Get Involved?
- Please us know if you/your organisation has produced an innovation or technology related report/research/policy statement. We will gladly upload relevant contributions. We are particularly interested in reports addressing our 7 Policy Priorities. Please get in touch via team@northsydneyinnovation.org.
- Relevant physical donations in new or very good condition will be gratefully received and added to our physical library.
Advocate
The NSIN aims to create a collaborative network of innovation-driven entrepreneurs, start-ups, established businesses, educational institutions, research bodies and shared workspace providers operating in northern Sydney. Our mandate is to foster the growth, prosperity and economic contribution of the northern Sydney innovation ecosystem.
We strive in our activities to connect and support the activities of all three levels of government in the backing of local start-ups and technology and innovation-driven businesses. We do this through both formal and informal advocacy including local and state government submissions. Read some of our past submissions including our local government Community Strategic Plan submissions here.
