Business with Purpose – an Australian vs Israeli approach to innovation, entrepreneurship, and social impact.

Lance Kalish and Neta-Li Meiri, each in their own way are in the business of making meaningful social impacts by disrupting traditional business models.

Lance, an Aussie serial social entrepreneur and Neta-Li, an influencer in Israel’s social impact tech scene will share how doing good is not only crucial for a strong society but also good for business. They will talk about the differences between Israel’s and Australia’s attitude to fostering innovation, encouraging and supporting entrepreneurship, and approach to social impact and justice.

The discussion will be moderated by Jessica Roth, Founder and Director at the Social Impact Hub. Jessica will also take questions from the audience.

 

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Lance, is recognised among Australia’s most accomplished international consumer product builders and social entrepreneurs. He is currently the Co-founder and Chairman of Yoobi – a school and office supplies brand with a “one for one” give back that has facilitated the giving of school supplies to more than 5 million needy school kids in Australia and the USA.

In 2016 Lance and partners co-founded LA-based beauty brand incubator Beach House Group. Beach House Group creates and commercialises world class brands to meet the changing needs of today’s consumers, including Florence By Mills, Pattern Beauty, Beis, Moon Oral Care, and Marlowe Men’s skincare.

In 2006 Lance and his partner Ido Leffler co-founded global skincare brand Yes To Inc. which became the second biggest natural beauty brand in the USA with more than 28 thousand stockists today. The two went onto co-author their first book in 2013, Get Big Fast and Do More Good, a guide to modern entrepreneurship and accelerated brand-building.

More recently, he co-founded Salon Lane in Sydney, providing serviced salon studios and flexible workspaces for experienced hair, beauty and wellness freelancers to operate their own businesses and work collaboratively with other professionals under one roof. In 2016 Lance and Ido won Third Sector’s award for Australian Social Entrepreneur of the Year, and became a Luminary of the University of Technology, Sydney after being awarded the Chancellors Award for Excellence 2015 and the UTS Business School Award for Excellence 2015.

Lance holds a Bachelor of Business and an MBA from UTS.

 

Neta-Li was born and raised in Herzliya, Israel. She is a graduate of the elite IDF 8200 intelligence unit, where she reached the rank of lieutenant as an English intelligence analyst and head of the foreign relations section.

On completion of her undergraduate degree, she began volunteering at 8200 Impact, as director of business development and marketing, and was appointed managing director in 2016. 8200 Impact, a nonprofit open to all Israeli citizens, uses technology to solve global problems in areas such as disabilities, gender equality, the elderly, education, parenthood and more.

Neta-Li recently commenced as the Global Digital & IT Innovation Director at Nestle, Israel and continues to serve on the board of 8200 Impact. In 2019 Neta-Li was named Globes 40 under 40 most influential people in Israel. She holds a BA in Law from TAU and currently completing her MBA at the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology.
