PITCH COACH:
Alan Jones
Tech startup investor, non-executive director, startup founder coach
Alan works hands-on with the founders of early-stage startups and new product development teams within the enterprise. Kevin coaches high potential individuals on lean startup skills, team dynamics, product management, pricing, sales, brand experience, growth marketing, capital raising and content. Kevin is well known for his pitch coaching results.

THE PITCH PROCESS
Pitches are 5-7min, warning bell at 5min and ‘the plug is pulled’ at 7min. Then a judge Q&A so pitchers will be given constructive advice on how to better sell their ideas. And spectators will get to see the brave rise or fall… 😉
Judges will have 5min or so Q&A and so a whole pitch should take 15min including swap over. We will try and get through 8 pitches in the night…

Program Manager, UNSW Founders Program
Melissa Pye is currently the UNSW Founders 10x accelerator Program Manager and supports founders to grow and scale their startup. She has designed and facilitated 4 programs and has directly supported 30+ teams. Prior to this, she was the Head of Storytelling at muru-D, Telstra’s startup accelerator.
Melissa has done plenty of roles during her many laps around the sun including senior marketing roles at global companies in Seoul, Singapore and Australia. She’s also launched several of her own a startups, written a book on entrepreneurship and appeared on the first season of Shark Tank Australia.
Her sweet spot is helping founders to articulate their value proposition and to pitch their startup in a succinct, engaging way whether this be face to face or via video. She’s worked with 100+ founders on their pitch decks and pitch story and is frequently been a guest judge at pitch competitions.
When she’s not supporting startups, you’ll find her swimming in the ocean or on Patrol at one of the most beautiful beaches in Sydney, Manly.

Kevin was an early employee and engineering leader at 2 startups in Austin, Texas, most recently the global job search company Indeed. He’s an angel investor in both Australia and United States, but ultimately would like to get back in the trenches as a founder at a new tech startup.

Trena is a global citizen, having lived and worked in Australia and the United States of America (New York City) during the course of her 20+ year international corporate executive career. She has managed significant P&L’s and led large teams across global regions including Asia Pacific and the America’s. In 2014, Trena founded and is CEO, FD Global Connections (her 3rd startup), a boutique advisory firm focussed on developing global market strategies for Australian companies.
